Everyone secretly gets a role: Wolf, Seer, Healer or Villager. At night the wolves pick a victim on their phones while the Seer and Healer use their powers. By day the village argues and votes someone out.
🎉Party games to play on your phones
These are the games to reach for when the group is together and you want everyone laughing. Each takes under a minute to set up: one person creates a room, everyone else scans the QR or types the joining code.
Each round one player is the judge. A prompt card with a blank goes up, and everyone else picks the funniest answer from the seven cards in their hand. The answers are shown with no names, the judge picks a favourite, and that player gets the point. The judge moves round every round.
Most players are Loyalists. A few are Traitors, and one of them is the Usurper. Each round a Captain picks an Advisor, everyone votes on the pair, and if they are elected they pass one edict between them in secret. Loyalists want five loyal edicts or the Usurper banished; the traitors want six traitor edicts, or the Usurper made Advisor late in the game.
In Undercover every player secretly receives the same location – except one person, the spy. Take turns asking each other questions that prove you know where you are without giving the place away. The spy listens for clues and tries to blend in; everyone else tries to work out who is bluffing.
Code Words splits everyone into a red team and a blue team around a grid of 25 words. One player on each team is the spymaster and can see which words belong to whom. They give one-word clues that link several of their team’s words, and their teammates guess – without hitting the word that ends the game.
Everyone gets a real Tambola ticket on their phone: 15 numbers in three rows. The app calls numbers from 1 to 90, out loud with the traditional calls if you like, and your ticket dabs itself. Claim a prize the moment you have it – but claim too early and it is a bogey. There is also Human Bingo, the icebreaker, and a caller-only mode for paper tickets.
Everyone writes three statements about themselves in secret – two true, one made up. Then one person at a time is in the hot seat while the room asks questions and votes on the lie.
Each round shows a scale with two ends – Cheap and Expensive, Underrated and Overrated. The Psychic secretly sees where the target sits, says one clue, and everyone else turns the dial to match.
Hold the phone to your forehead so you cannot see the screen. Your friends see the word and act it out, describe it or hum it, and you guess before the timer runs out. Swipe down on the screen when you get it right, or up to pass. It works with just two players and scales up to a whole room.
Two tricky choices appear on every phone. Everyone picks one in secret, then the group result is revealed along with who chose what – and the arguing begins. Play it as a pure laugh, or go with the crowd to score points. Add seasonal packs for Christmas, Diwali and Halloween, plus United Kingdom, United States, Europe and India dilemmas.
The same question appears on every phone with a countdown. Tap the right answer fast – faster answers score more, and consecutive correct answers build a streak bonus. Pick from general knowledge, science, geography, history, film and TV, music, sport, food, nature and tech, then add packs such as Pub Quiz, India, Britain, America, Eurovision, Christmas, Diwali and Halloween.
Everyone gets the same prompt, such as “Name a popular ice-cream flavour”, and types an answer in secret. When everyone has answered, matching answers are grouped together and you score for thinking like the rest of the group.
Each round gets a letter and a list of categories – a food, a city, an animal, a film. Everyone races to type an answer for every category that begins with the letter. The first player to finish hits PANIC and everyone else has five seconds to finish.
Each player is secretly given an identity – an animal, a celebrity, a film character or a food. Everyone else can see it on their phone, but you cannot. Take turns asking yes or no questions to work out who or what you are.
Everyone writes a short phrase. Each phrase is passed to another player to draw, then the drawing is passed to someone else who has to describe what they see – and so on until the chain ends. Then the host reveals each chain step by step, and the original phrase usually comes out hilariously different.
